The race schedule and full routes for the events at the 2019 UCI Road World Championships in Yorkshire, were announced at 7pm (UK time) today.

The announcement took place at the 2018 Championships, which are happening this week in Innsbruck, Austria. Sir Gary Verity was joined on stage by UCI President David Lappartient, British Cycling CEO Julie Harrington, as well as British riders Alex Dowsett and Hayley Simmonds.

Sir Gary Verity said that there would be a 'challenging and spectacular range of routes, which take in all four corners of the county.'

David Lappartient said that the Tour de France Grand Départ in 2014, and subsequent creation of the legacy Tour de Yorkshire race, had left the UCI in no doubt that the Road World Championships in the 2019 would be a memorable event.

This is the first Championships to integrate para-cycling into the programme. Para-cycling opens the 2019 UCI event, with road races on a Beverley-Tadcaster-Wetherby-Harrogate route on Saturday 21st September.

The new mixed team time trial will also make its début. Three male cyclists representing a country will ride a 14-km Harrogate circuit, and when the second male rider crosses the line, a team of three female cyclists from the same country will set off to ride the same route. The clock will be stopped when the second of the women crosses the line.
