The junior women start from Doncaster and head north via Hatfield,
Snaith, and Sherburn-in-Elmet to Tadcaster. They continue via Wetherby
and Spofforth to Harrogate. They arrive in Harrogate at the Empress
roundabout, and take the A59 to the New Park roundabout, before
following the usual World Championships route to the West Park finish
line.
My suggestions for where to watch are Doncaster, Tadcaster, Wetherby,
Spofforth, and Harrogate.
Where to watch the junior women's road race: Doncaster
Doncaster Dome
There will be riders warming up, and plenty of ceremony and spectacle
at the start.
Friday 27th September 2019 sees two races start in Doncaster - the
junior women first, then the under 23 men later - so it will be well
worth being there for a Yorkshire World Championship experience.
Start time in Doncaster: 0840
Where to watch the junior women's road race: Tadcaster
Tadcaster bridge
Tadcaster is on the route of both the junior women's and the under 23
men's races on Friday 27th September.
As well as being a brewing town, it's a cycling town - if you go
there on a weekend, you'll see lots of people out on their bikes.
I would expect that the people of Tadcaster will come out and cheer
on the junior riders.
Approximate time in Tadcaster: 1024
Where to watch the junior women's road race: Wetherby
Town Hall, Wetherby
The junior women arrive in Wetherby from Thorp Arch, on Walton Road.
They take the A168 to the Mercure Hotel roundabout, then the A661 to
cross the Wharfe. At the mini-roundabout on the other side of the
Wharfe, they stay on the A661 (Market Place). They leave town on the
A661 Spofforth Hill.
There'll be lots of spectators by the roadside in Wetherby,
encouraging the riders.
Approximate time in Wetherby: 1041
Where to watch the junior women's road race: Spofforth
World
Champion bear at Spofforth
The race arrives in Spofforth on the A661 from Wetherby. In
Spofforth, it stays on the A661, crossing Crimple Beck, and heading
for Harrogate.
The peloton might look quite impressive on the bridge over Crimple
Beck, as there are stone walls either side and the road is fairly
narrow. It would make a good photo.
Approximate time in Spofforth: 1051
Where to watch the junior women's road race: Harrogate
Parliament St, on the
UCI 2019 Harrogate circuit
The route in Harrogate is a little different to that of the other
races in these Championships. The race comes into town on Wetherby
Road. At the Empress roundabout, the riders take the A59 Skipton Road
and follow it to the New Park roundabout.
From New Park, the route is the usual one - along the A61, with a
little detour to the Royal Pump Rooms, then up Parliament Street to
the West Park finish line.
The fan park on West Park Stray has big screens showing the race.
