He delivered Jasper Philipsen to pole position for the win, and Philipsen duly crossed the line ahead of Caleb Ewan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The circuit was expected to be safe as houses, with its width and sweeping curves. In fact the bends were tighter than I anticipated, and certainly tighter than David Millar anticipated in commentary: &#8216;I&#8217;d say it&#8217;s incredibly safe&#8230;a sprinter&#8217;s team&#8217;s dream&#8217;. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It may have been tighter than the riders anticipated too. There were several crashes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fabio Jakobsen was one of the fallers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Video Highlights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2g8ftEqfmKE\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Break<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There was a doomed breakaway of two riders &#8211; Anthony Delaplace (Ark\u00e9a) and Benoit Cosnefroy (AG2R).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There should be a rule that no rider with a circumflex in his name should be in a break, or do anything noteworthy in the race. I can&#8217;t manage a circumflex here. I&#8217;ll have to let Benoit off this time, but let this be a warning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cosnefroy did some larking around with the camera motorbike.
