Nacer Bouhanni of Cofidis was fastest in the sprint in St-Vulbas to win Stage 1 of the 2016 Criterium du Dauphiné.
According to CyclingNews, he clashed with Alexander Kristoff of Katusha in the run-in to the finish, the pair banging shoulders, handlebars, and heads. However, Bouhanni was able to get on the wheel of Irishman Sam Bennett (Bora-Argon), and surged past him. Jens Debusschere of Lotto Soudal was second, and Bennett third.

In a bizarre move, the Department for Transport published its draft cycling and walking investment strategy today, Easter Sunday. One might speculate that the publication date was chosen for media managment reasons, to generate minimum adverse publicity.
