NYCC to consult over EATF Tranche 2 bid
9th July 2020
North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC) is to consult community active travel groups over its bid for £1,065,000 from the Emergency Active Travel Fund (EATF).
In Harrogate, NYCC failed to consult Harrogate District Cycle Action over its Tranche 1 bid, and was only awarded 50% of the indicative amount provisionally set aside for the county.
The county council says that for Tranche 2 it is considering 35 schemes suggested by groups and individuals, as well as schemes in its Local Cycling & Walking Infrastructure Plans. Harrogate's Cycling Infrastructure Plan, drawn up by consultants WSP, is a long and general report, but doesn't contain specific schemes or designs.
Four schemes
The Harrogate element of the Tranche 2 bid is likely to be based on four schemes, one of which (Beech Grove) was already mentioned in the Tranche 1 bid. The schemes are for high-quality bike routes on:
- Oatlands Drive
- Beech Grove
- Victoria Avenue
- the A59 between High Bridge and Harrogate Golf Club
