The Yorkshire 2019 Para-Cycling International is the very first event of Yorkshire 2019, and takes place on Saturday 21st September 2019. There are 13 different classifications for men and 13 for women, which means a total of 26 races.

The longest races start from Beverley, notably the blind athletes competing on tandems with sighted guides. Men's C4 and 5 classes also start here (athletes with some physical impairments who ride standard or adapted bicycles).

The first intermediate start is at Tadcaster, where a number of races begin, including many of the hand bike races. The second intermediate start is at Wetherby, and various races start there including the T-classes (tricycles).

The podium presentations are at the West Park Fan Zone in Harrogate, and they are approximately:

My suggestions for where to watch are Beverley, Market Weighton, Tadcaster, Wetherby, Knaresborough, and Harrogate.

Where to watch the Yorkshire 2019 Para-Cycling International: Beverley

Beverley Market Place
Beverley Market Place

There's always plenty to see at the start of a race, and Beverley will be no exception.

The racing starts at 12 noon, but in Beverley Market Place there will be free, fun family-friendly events from 10am to 4pm, including a parade cycle ride on part of the route at 11am.

There's to be a stunt cycle team, a chance to try weird and crazy bikes, and to go on a pump track. Countryfile presenter Steve Brown will be present.

Start time in Beverley: 1200-1206

Where to watch the Yorkshire 2019 Para-Cycling International: Market Weighton

The race doesn't just pass Market Weighton by, it goes right to the middle.

Market Weighton is sure to welcome the para-cyclists and give them an almighty cheer as they come through.

Tadcaster features not only in the para-cycling on the first Saturday (21st September), but also on the route of the junior women's and the under 23 men's races on Friday 27th September.

It's the start point for many of the para-cycling races, and as such will be one of the focal points of the event. The start point is by the Coach & Horses pub and the Medical Centre.

Start time in Tadcaster: 1400-1415

Where to watch the Yorkshire 2019 Para-Cycling International: Wetherby

Wetherby Town Hall
Town Hall, Wetherby

The para-cyclists who set off from Beverley or Tadcaster arrive in Wetherby on the B1224 York Road. They come down the High Street, then turn right on the A661 Market Place, and head for Spofforth.

The start point in Wetherby for races that begin there is the Town Hall.

Start time in Wetherby: 1500-1512

Where to watch the Yorkshire 2019 Para-Cycling International: Knaresborough

Knaresborough wasn't on the original route, but was added to it when it was altered.

Knaresborough is making the most of this event, with classic cars and traction engines in the Market Place, as well as a farmer's market; and a Party in the Castle, featuring family entertainment and live bands.

Where to watch the Yorkshire 2019 Para-Cycling: Harrogate

After the races finish, there are podium presentations as detailed above (3, 4.15 and 4.45pm).

The Opening Ceremony for the UCI 2019 Yorkshire World Championships follows on straight afterwards at West Park Fan Zone (5 to 5.45pm), followed by live music.
