Nidderdale Greenway Extension Survey

A survey is open until 18th September 2023, to collect views about an extension to the Nidderdale Greenway.
The Nidderdale Greenway is hugely popular with walkers, cyclists, wheelchair users and horse-riders, but it only runs between Harrogate and Ripley.

The hope now is that the Greenway can be extended up Nidderdale to Pateley Bridge and Scar House Reservoir, broadly along the line of the old railway. It would link villages, communities and schools along the way.

A traffic-free path has benefited Ripley, and would provide similar benefits to Hampsthwaite and other villages in the Dale.
Councillor Andrew Murday is Chair of the Steering Group for the project.
Hampsthwaite Pathfinders
Hampsthwaite Pathfinders is a sub-group of the Parish Council.
At the Village Feast in July, Pathfinders had a stall with a Sustrans feasibility study showing route options and outline costs. Over 40 residents expressed a keen interest in the extension proposal.
Hampsthwaite Pathfinders are now asking for views through their survey, which takes around 2 minutes to complete.
