Comments
When visitors leave comments or product reviews on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies and Personal Information
HedgehogCycling Shop – Reviews and Login
If you leave a comment or review in the shop section of HedgehogCycling (built using WordPress and WooCommerce) you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
HedgehogCycling Shop – Making a Purchase
The shop is built with WooCommerce, and uses cookies for tracking:
- products you view
- location, IP address and browser type
- items you add to your basket
When you make a purchase, we ask you to provide:
- name
- billing address
- shipping address
- phone number
- payment card details
- other optional account details
This information is used in order to process paymente, and fulfil your order and send you the item(s) you’ve bought, as well as dealing with any refunds.
Google AdSense and other 3rd Parties
We have enabled Google AdSense adverts, and Google uses cookies to help serve the ads that it displays. The cookies help determine which ads to serve based on your previous visits to this site or other websites.
If you consent to cookies, Google will have access to the data collected which it will use to personalise adverts. Please refer to Google’s Privacy & Terms site.
We also use Amazon Affiliate links. If you click on one of these links, Amazon may place a cookie on your device.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

Analytics
The web host collects information about pages visited which includes the IP address of visitors.
We are not currently using any Analytics plugins for the shop/WordPress element of the site.
3) Who we share your data with
Data about website visits is available to the host of the website, PACWebHosting.
Hedgehog Cycling displays Google Adsense adverts. Cookies placed on your device by Google can track your visits to this and other websites. To opt out of this, go to your Google account settings, and turn off Ad Personalisation.
You can also use the Google consent notice displayed by this website to prevent personalisation.
If you buy a product from the shop, the details of the purchase will be available to the payment provider, PayPal.
If you sign up for the HedgehogCycling Newsletter, your details will be added to our mailing list on Mailchimp, and handled in accordance with Mailchimp’s Privacy Policy.
4) How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
5) What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
If you sign up for our Newsletter, your contact details may be stored by Mailchimp in the USA. They safeguard data to the same standard as if it was in Europe and governed by the GDPR.
