Stage 11 of the Tour de France 2025 came down to a sprint between two riders who were the best of the day’s breakaway – Mauro Schmid of Jayco Alula in the Swiss champion’s jersey, and Jonas Abrahamsen of Uno-X Mobility.

Abrahamsen won by a few centimetres.

Mathieu van der Poel tried to chase down the front two from the second breakaway group, but came up about 7s short.

The breakaway went clear early, and featured Abrahamsen and Schmid as well as Davide Ballerini, Mathieu Burgaudeau and Fred Wright.

They were chased by Quinn Simmons, Wout van Aert, Axel Laurence, Arnaud de Lie and Mathieu van der Poel in a second group.

The Cote de Vielle Toulouse 15km from the finish was decisive, and that was the point where Abrahamsen and Schmid dropped the others. They extended their lead on the Cote de Pech David – except against MDVP, who launched his attack on the steep climb.

Back in the reduced peloton, Pogacar crashed with around 5km to go, but the rest of the reduced peloton slowed up to allow him to rejoin.
