Simon Yates took a brilliant solo victory from the breakaway on Stage 10 of the Tour de France 2025.

His erstwhile breakaway companion Thymen Arensman was second on the stage, and Ben Healy was third.

On the final climb, the reduced peloton contained Pogacar and Vingegaard among others. The Slovene attacked, but couldn’t shake off the Danish Visma Lease-a-Bike rider.

Healy’s advantage over Pogacar at the finish line of the stage was enough for the Irishman/Brummie to take the yellow jersey.

The Breakaway

The breakaway featured 29 riders. They included Ben Healy, Ben O’Connor, Simon Yates, Quinn Simmons, Michael Storer, Thymen Arensman and Lenny Martinez.

Martinez scooped up a lot of KOM points, and takes the lead in the KOM competition with 27 points.

With 12km left, the break was down to just five riders – Healy, O’Connor, Yates, Storer and Arensman. The battle among them for the stage win came down to the final climb, Mont Dore-Puy de Sancy. That’s where Yates proved stronger than the others.

Abandons

Marijn van den Berg of EF Education Easypost did not start today due to injuries sustained on Stage 1. Georg Zimmermann of Intermarché-Wanty also abandoned, in his case because of concussion suffered in a crash yesterday.

Soren Waerenskjold (Uno-X Mobility) left the race too after crashing yesterday and failing to recover.
