Grand Départ 2025 Announcement

Details of the Grand Départ of the 2025 Tour de France have been announced.
We already knew that the Grand Départ 2025 was to be in Lille-Nord de France, but now we have the routes of the first three stages that comprise it.
Stage 1 Tour de France 2025

Stage 1 of the Tour de France 2025 takes place on 5th July 2025.
It’s a clockwise loop starting and finishing in Lille, and taking in Lens and Béthune. There are cobbles on the climb of the Cote de Cassel.
There is the possibility of crosswinds, but Stage 1 is likely to result in a bunch sprint.

Stage 2 Tour de France 2025

Stage 2 is from Lauwin-Planque via Arras and Montreuil-sur-Mer to Boulogne-sur-Mer.
It features four climbs in the second half of the race, and the finish is uphill too. This suggests that Stage 2 could be an opportunity for puncheurs.

Stage 3 Tour de France 2025

Stage 3 is 172km from Valenciennes to Dunkirk. There’s another climb of the Cote de Cassel, which also features on Stage 1. Unless it splits the peloton up, it’s another sprint stage.
As on Stage 1 but more so, there’s a chance of crosswinds and echelons.

Beyond the Grand Départ
Stage 4 of the 2025 Tour de France starts in Amiens.
The full route of Stage 4 will be announced in October 2024, along with the other stages of the 2025 Tour.
The 2026 Tour de France could start in the UK.
