Labour’s David Skaith Elected Mayor of York & North Yorkshire
Labour’s David Skaith has been elected Mayor of York & North Yorkshire.
The votes cast were:
- David Skaith (Labour) 66,761 (35.1%)
- Keane Duncan (Conservative) 51,967 (27.3%)
- Felicity Cunliffe-Lister (Liberal Democrat) 30,867 (16.2%)
- Kevin Foster (Green) 15,188 (8%)
- Keith Tordoff (Independent) 13,250 (7%)
- Paul Haslam (Independent) 12,370 (6.5%)
The turnout was 191,000, which is around 30% of the 640,000 eligible to vote. The count took place at Harrogate Convention Centre.

The Mayor serves a four-year term, and has a salary of £81,300 a year.
There is £540 million of funding over 30 years, and the Mayor may be able to secure more money from government.
Current projects include £10 million to support the transition to net zero.
The Mayor becomes Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, but may appoint a deputy to that role.
