Carapaz was fourth, and is the new leader of the KOM competition, then Remco and Jonas came in together.

Video Highlights

These are video highlights of Stage 19.

The Breakaway

A breakaway group went within a few kilometres of the départ réel.

When it had been shaken down by the early slopes of the Col de Vars, the group included

  • Matteo Jorgenson
  • Wilco Kelderman
  • Richard Carapaz
  • Simon Yates
  • Jai Hindley
  • Oscar Onley
  • Ilan van Wilder
  • Nicholas Prodhomme
  • Cristian Rodriguez

Carapaz led Jorgenson and Kelderman over the top of the Col de Vars.

Carapaz also picked up maximum mountain points at the top of the Cime de la Bonette. By this time, Prodhomme, Onley, and van Wilder had been dropped.

On the final climb to Isola 2000, Rodriguez was dropped early as Kelderman set the pace. Hindley was next to go.

Matteo Jorgenson attacked with 13.5km to go to Isola 2000 and looked set for the win until Pogacar broke clear of the peloton.

The GC Battle

Pogacar attacked with about 10km to go, leaving Remco and Vingegaard chasing.

Mikel Landa drove the pace for Evenepoel and Vingegaard. Remco then attacked the Dane, but couldn’t shake him off. The two of them crossed the line together.
