Stage 14 of the Tour de France 2025 belonged to Thymen Arensman, who attacked the breakaway on the Col de Peyresourde to get a lead, then looked strong all the way up the final climb to the finish at Luchon-Superbagneres.

Peering through the mist, you could see him raise his hands to his head in disbelief as he crossed the line.

Jonas Vingegaard attacked from the elite bunch with 4km to go, and only Pogacar could live with his pace.

They came in 1min8s (Pogacar) and 1min12s (Vingegaard) behind the winner. Next were:

  • Florian Lipowitz (4th)
  • Felix Gall (5th) and
  • Oscar Onley (6th)

Lipowitz is now third on GC at 7min53, and Onley is fourth at 9min18.

The Breakaway

There was a large breakaway featuring, among others, Lenny Martinez, Thymen Arensman, Ben O’Connor, Michael Woods, Sepp Kuss, Valentin Paret-Peintre and Tobias Johannessen.

Martinez drifted clear of the break and took a lead of nearly two minutes over the Col du Tourmalet, picking up 20 KOM points in the process.

He also crested the Col d’Aspin first, but was joined on the descent by Sepp Kuss and Valentin Paret-Peintre.

On the Peyresourde, the front three were joined by other members of the breakaway including Arensman, who then made a solo attack.

Arensman started the final climb to Luchon Superbagneres with a lead of more than 3 minutes over the peloton.

Remco

Remco Evenepoel dropped out of the Tour de France early in the stage.

Mattias Skjelmose crashed today and abandoned the race.
