Another day, another UAE win, but it wasn’t Pogacar on Stage 15 of the 2025 Tour de France.

This was a day for the breakaway. With the stage profile resembling a two-humped camel, the smart strategy was to get to the top of the second lump in the lead group then take advantage of the downhill towards the finish at Carcassonne.

Tim Wellens was in a position to do that.

With 43km to go, he left behind Campenaerts, Vlasov, Simmons, Storer and Barguil, and took off on his own.

The gap went out towards 2 minutes, and the chasers seemed to lose heart.

Wellens crossed the line first in Carcassonne.

Victor Campenaerts came in next, 1min28 later, with Alaphilippe winning the sprint for third.

The peloton got to the finish town dominated by its walled chateau several minutes later.
