The Ballon Goes Up on Stage 13

Mauro Schmid won Stage 13 of the 2026 Tour de France from a breakaway. He was the faster in a two-up sprint with Harold Tejada after a climb and descent of the Ballon d’Alsace.
There was a big breakaway of 37 riders, which then ballooned to 57.
Jasper Philipsen won the intermediate sprint ahead of Pedersen and Girmay.
On the climb of the Ballon d’Alsace, the lead group was whittled down to just a few riders – Pidcock, McNulty, Wellens, van Gils, Tejada, Vauquelin, Plapp, Schmid, Braz Afonso and Jegat.
Tejada and Schmid made a break from the break. They never had a big lead, but it was enough for them to duel it out for the win. Schmid came out on top.
Pidcock was third, 2s behind the winner, and he climbs to fourth place on GC at 4min15 from the yellow jersey.
These are video highlights of Stage 13.
