The Wait is Over after Stage 17

Jasper Philipsen’s wait for a win on the 2026 Tour de France is over after he took Stage 17 in a sprint from a reduced peloton.
Mads Pedersen won the intermediate sprint.
Jasper Stuyven attacked from a breakaway group of six, but was caught by the bunch (which did not include the GC contenders) with 4km to go.
Mathieu van der Poel gave Philipsen a very good lead-out, and the Belgian pedalled jolly fast to cross the line first.
We saw the trademark Philipsen celebration, hands above his head and a bit too close together.
Mauro Schimd was second, Olav Kooij third, and Lewis Askey fourth. Pedersen could only manage eighth.
These are video highlights of Stage 17.
