Stage 16 of the Tour de France 2024 finished in a bunch sprint in Nimes.

Mathieu van der Poel gave a good lead-out to Jasper Philipsen, and the Belgian finished off his team mate’s good work to win the stage.

Biniam Girmay crashed with 1.3km to go. Cavendish was well-placed, but slipped back in the final kilometre.

The Breakaway

Thomas Gachignard forged ahead alone with 70km left, and had an advantage of 2min12 at one point. He was caught with 25km to go.
