Bike Rider Killed by Van Driver on B6165 near Burnt Yates

A man in his sixties who was riding a bike on the B6165 near Burnt Yates, west of Ripley, was killed on Tuesday 20th August 2024.

It happened around 6.10pm, according to North Yorkshire Police.

The death was the result of a collision involving the driver of a blue Ford Transit van. Both the cyclist and the van driver had been travelling west.

The victim was taken to Leeds General Infirmary, but pronounced dead.

The road was closed for several hours while emergency services did their work, and for a forensic collision investigation.
