Tim Triple on Stage 12

Tim Merlier of Soudal Quick-Step got his third win of the 2026 Tour de France on Stage 12. He was the fastest of the sprinters in Chalon-sur-Saone.

Baptiste Veistroffer (Lotto Intermarché) made an early solo break. He was then joined by Damiano Caruso, Ewen Costiou and Matteo Vercher.

Veistroffer then dropped the other three, but he was caught by a big-ish group with 33.5km to go.

The race came back together for a bunch sprint.

Alpecin Premiertech’s lead-out train made the running with 1km to go, and there was a big crash just behind them.

Philipsen was dropped off by Van der Poel perhaps a little too early. Merlier was able to come past and take the win.

Olav Kooij was second, Philipsen third, Biniam Girmay fourth and Milan Fretin fifth.
