Stage 21 TDF 2022 Blog: Fizz-ling Out

No other sporting event effectively ends the day before it actually ends, and there may be a reason for that.
Stage 21 saw Jumbo Visma drinking fizz on their way towards the Champs-Elysées, and various other bits of messing about.
The real sporting action is the sprint to the finish. Luka Mezgec of Bike Exchange led it out, but finished his effort rather early, with a long way to go to the line. Dylan Groenewegen had no choice but to start sprinting.
Jasper Philipsen wisely chose to go over to the right hand side of the road, giving himself oodles of space.
Caleb Ewan was not so fortunate, getting boxed in on the left by Alexander Kristoff. There was some shoulder-barging, but scientists have calculated that Kristoff is 11.5 times the size of Ewan, so there was no way through for the Australian.
Philipsen won by some distance.
Vingegaard won the Tour de France, and was King of the Mountains. Wout van Aert won the green jersey competition.
