Stage 8 TDF 2023 Blog: Tough Uphill Sprint in Limoges

In a hard, uphill finale, Mads Pedersen of Lidl Trek went early and kept sprinting all the way to a well-deserved win.
Philipsen had the advantage of a Mathieu van der Poel lead-out, then switched to Pedersen’s wheel. Even so, he could not come past the Trek man.
Mark Cavendish went down earlier in the day in a nothing crash and apparently broke his collar bone. He is out of the race.

The Break
There was a 3-man breakaway of the two Anthonys and the tractor – Anthony Delaplace, Anthony Turgis and Tim Declercq.
Turgis was the last to stay away, but was caught well before Limoges.
