Stage 13 of the Tour de France 2025 is an 10.9km individual time trial from Loudenvielle to Peyragudes.

There are only 2-3km on the flat before the riders begin the climb up to the resort of Peyragudes.

The last few hundred metres to the altiport are particularly challenging and have seen epic battles in the past on road stages, notably in 2017 and 2022.

Food and Drink to Accompany Stage 13 Tour de France 2025

Madiran red wine

Tourmalet cheese is a Pyrenean speciality. It is made from the milk of sheep which graze near the Col du Tourmalet. It's chewy, with a nutty taste. It goes well with Madiran wine, or a white Viognier.

Croustade is a fruit pie that's a speciality of Saint-Girons and Le Couserans area, a little to the east of today's stage. It is made with apples, pears or plums, with puff pastry and icing sugar.

We'll stick with Madiran wine as the alcoholic accompaniment to the stage. It is a local red wine made from Tannat and other grapes.

Stage 13 Tour de France 2025: Route Notes

The stage starts in Loudenvielle.

Loudenvielle

Loudenvielle is a village in the Louron valley. The suffix -vielle in the names of villages here comes from the Latin villa, meaning a farm or rural dwelling.

It is a popular spot for mountain tourism, with a thermal spa (Balnéa), a waterpark and a man-made lake.

Stage 8 of the 2020 Tour de France finished in Loudenvielle.

A short ride north from Loudenvielle along the D25 is the Lac de Génos-Loudenvielle.

The riders continue from the lake to Armenteule. That's where the climbing starts, but only gently at first.

The first hamlet on the climb is Estarvielle, at a height of 985m.

First Time Check Escadaoux

Soon after Estarvielle, there's a switchback at Escadaoux with 4km covered, and that's the location of the first time check.

Now the gradient increases and the riders head on up to Loudervielle at 1,158m.

Second Time Check Loudervielle

The second time check is billed as being at Loudervielle, but in fact it is a couple of hairpin bends afterwards.

A kilometre after the second time check the competitors reach La Sapinière at 1,378m.

Pogacar

Favourites for Stage 13 of the 2025 Tour de France might include Remco Evenepoel, with his time trialling abilities. However, climbing will be more important than an efficient aero position, so it's hard to see past Vingegaard or Pogacar for the win.
