Not Jim But Tim Bergerac on Stage 8

On Stage 8 of the 2026 Tour de France, Tim Merlier of Soudal Quick-Step won a second sprint stage in a row, this time in Bergerac.

Despite the good lead-outs of Alpecin and Astana, Merlier came from a long way back and won quite easily.

In the breakaway were Liam Slock (Lotto-Intermarché), Jakub Otruba (Caja Rural) and Thibaut Guernalec (Total Energies).

Slock went clear of his two breakaway companions on the Côte du Buisson-de-Cadouin, and he did a fantastic ride, staying clear until 1.3km left.
