Stage 1 of the 2027 Tour de France is a 184km flat stage. It features rural and undulating terrain, peaking at 407m above sea level early on the route.

The one categorised climb is the Cote de Melrose, after 64km.

The route flattens out before the finish at Carlisle, and there’s a short finishing stage. This might be contested in a bunch sprint.

Stage 2 of the 2027 Tour de France is a 223km hilly stage from Keswick to Liverpool.

The opening section is in the Lake District National Park, and takes in Windermere. The riders reach Lancaster after 76km.

After Lancaster, the Forest of Bowland provides some categorised climbs.

The route goes through Blackburn, then there are two more climbs. The roads level out towards the finish in Liverpool. There’s a descent just before 1km to go.

The race organisers expect this to be a day for the breakaway, or for sprinters-who-can-climb.

Stage 3 of the 2027 Tour de France is a 223km mountain stage from Welshpool to Cardiff.

The first 80km are straightforward. After 85.5km, the riders reach the top of the difficult Cote d’Epynt.

Beyond km125, the race enters an old coal-mining area, with short, steep climbs. Here, the GC contenders and puncheurs will battle it out.

The last climb is the Cote de Caerffili, 2km at an average 8.1%. Then it’s a fast 12.5km run through Cardiff, past the castle and the Principality Stadium.
